Put PDF pages into slides, docs and designs
A PNG drops into a slide deck, a wiki page, a design file or an email as an ordinary picture and looks the same everywhere. Convert a report page with a chart, a diagram from a manual or a page of a brochure, then insert the PNG where you need it. Because PNG saves without losing detail, you can crop, mark up and save the image again as often as you like without it getting blurrier.
PNG or JPG for your pages
PNG does best on pages of text and flat color. At Standard resolution, a Letter form came to 20 KB as PNG and 94 KB as JPG, and a dense spreadsheet to 324 KB against 589 KB. Photos, scans and color gradients go the other way: a full-page photo took over 3 MB as PNG and about 500 KB as JPG. For pages like that, PDF to JPG gives you much smaller files.
Standard or High for PNG
Standard (150 DPI) turns a US Letter page into a 1275 × 1650 pixel PNG, plenty for a slide or a screen. High (300 DPI) makes it 2550 × 3300 pixels, enough to print the page at full size or to cut out a chart and keep its labels sharp. For text pages the extra detail costs little, since a typed page grew from about 130 KB to 300 KB, while pages with large photos can reach several megabytes each.
A white page, just as in the PDF
Each page is drawn on white the way a PDF reader shows it, with filled-in form fields and comments in place, so the PNG has a solid white background. To use one chart, diagram or logo from the page, open the PNG in Crop image and keep just that part; the cropped file stays a PNG.
How to convert a PDF to PNG
- Select or drop your PDF files. Each page is converted to PNG at Standard resolution as soon as its file opens.
- Switch Resolution to High (300 DPI) for printing or for charts you will enlarge. The pages update in place.
- Select a page to see the PNG at full size, and remove pages you don’t need.
- Download a single PNG from its page, or every page at once with Download all (ZIP).

Is converting a PDF to PNG lossless?
The PNG keeps every pixel of the page exactly as it was drawn, with no compression marks. How much detail it holds depends on the resolution: Standard is sharp on screens, and High keeps small print readable when you zoom in or print.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
The PNG shows the page as it looks in a PDF reader, on a solid white background. To use one element of the page, such as a chart or a logo, crop the PNG down to it with Crop image.
Why are some of my PNG files so large?
PNG keeps every pixel, which suits text and flat color but not photographs. A page filled with a photo or a scan can be several times larger as PNG than as JPG, and a page of text often takes more space as a PNG than in the PDF, which stores text as text rather than pixels. Convert photo pages with PDF to JPG, or shrink the PNG files with Compress PNG.
Can I still select or search the text in the PNG?
A PNG is a picture of the page, so its text turns into pixels, and selecting, searching and clicking links stay with the original PDF. Keep the PDF for those, and use the PNG wherever the page needs to appear as an image.
How do I convert only some pages of a PDF to PNG?
