How to get a color code from an image

Choose the picture, move the pointer over the area you want, and use the magnified view to distinguish neighboring pixels. Select the pixel to update the current color, then copy the value in the format your design tool, stylesheet, document, or presentation needs.

HEX, RGB, and HSL describe the same selected color

HEX is a compact hexadecimal form commonly used in CSS and design handoffs. RGB lists red, green, and blue channel values. HSL describes hue, saturation, and lightness, which can be easier to adjust systematically. Converting formats does not change the sampled color.

Why neighboring pixels may have different values

Photos contain texture, lighting, shadows, compression artifacts, and anti-aliased edges, so nearby pixels can differ even when they look like one area. Sample a few nearby points and save the useful values. A representative palette helps reveal broader colors but does not replace exact pixel selection.

Use sampled colors with appropriate contrast
