Add photos, logos and textures in layers
Place a photo inside another photo
Add a close-up to a product shot, put a logo in the corner or arrange several pictures on one background. Move and resize each image separately.
Control how your images overlap
Lower the opacity to see the picture underneath. Advanced mode adds 12 blend modes, alignment tools and adjustments for brightness, contrast, saturation and blur.
Save at the base image’s size
The base image sets the width and height of your finished picture. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparent areas, or JPG for sharing a photo.
How to put one image on top of another
- Choose the base image. Its width and height determine the size of your finished picture.
- Select “Add overlay image” and choose the photo or logo to place on top. Drag it to move it, use a corner handle to resize it and the top handle to rotate it.
- Adjust Opacity to control how much of the picture underneath shows through. Open Advanced mode for blend modes and alignment.
- Check the layer order, choose JPG, PNG or WebP under “Save as”, then select “Download image”.
Add a transparent logo to a photo
Use a PNG logo with a transparent background so only the logo covers your photo. Add it as an overlay, resize it and leave a little space from the edge. For a subtle watermark, start with 30–50% opacity and adjust until the logo is readable. A white background is part of the source image; lowering opacity fades the logo and its background together.
Blend two pictures with opacity and blend modes
Keep Normal selected when you want to place a picture directly on top of another. For a texture or a blended photo effect, open Advanced mode and the Blend tab. Multiply darkens the overlapping area; Screen lightens it. Compare the preview, then adjust the selected layer’s brightness or contrast if needed.
Choose which image appears on top
The layer at the top of the list appears in front. Use the arrows to move a layer forward or backward, or hide it temporarily to compare the result. Undo reverses the last edit; Redo reapplies it. Download your finished picture before refreshing or closing the page. The saved file combines the visible layers into one image.
Frequently asked questions
How do I overlay two images?
Choose the first picture as the base, then select “Add overlay image” to add the second. Drag it into position, resize or rotate it with the handles, and adjust Opacity before downloading.
Can I overlay more than two images?
Yes. You can add up to 20 overlay layers to one base image. Each layer has its own position, size, rotation, opacity and blend mode.
How do I make an image overlay transparent?
Select the layer and lower Opacity. At 100% the layer is fully visible; at 0% it is invisible. For a logo with clear space around its outline, use a PNG that already has a transparent background.
Which image formats and file sizes can I use?
You can open JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP and BMP files up to 25 MB each. Animated images are used as still images in the composition.
Will the finished image keep the original dimensions?
The finished image keeps the base image’s width and height in pixels, shown below the preview. Resizing an overlay changes only that layer. Any part extending beyond the base image’s edges is cropped from the result.
Should I download JPG, PNG or WebP?
Choose JPG for a photo that works in most apps, PNG for graphics with sharp edges or transparency, or WebP for a web image that can include transparency. JPG fills transparent areas with white.
Is the tool free, and are my photos uploaded?
The tool is free to use without an account. Your images are processed in your browser, and ImageNow adds no watermark. Downloading creates a new file and leaves your originals unchanged.
