Why convert TIFF to JPG?

Scans that open and send anywhere

TIFF comes out of scanners, print workflows and archives, and plenty of apps and phones cannot open it. A JPG opens everywhere and attaches to any email.

Up to 100 scans at once

Add up to 100 TIFF or TIF files, convert them automatically, and download the JPGs one by one or as a single ZIP.

Documents stay on your device

Scans often hold contracts, records and personal data. Decoding and JPG encoding run in your browser session — nothing is uploaded to ImageNow.

How it works

  1. Select or drop up to 100 TIFF or TIF files, each up to 100 MB.
  2. Your images convert automatically. View the finished JPG and its file size.
  3. Download each JPG, or save the whole batch as one ZIP.

How multipage TIFF files are handled

A TIFF file can store several pages. ImageNow converts only the first page to one JPG; it does not merge or extract later pages. Use a dedicated multipage TIFF tool if you need every page. To convert TIFF together with other image formats, use Convert to JPG, which accepts PNG, WebP, HEIC and more in one batch.

TIF and TIFF are the same format

The .tif and .tiff extensions refer to the same Tagged Image File Format, and this converter accepts both. TIFF is common in scanning, publishing, archiving, and print, while JPG is usually easier to preview, email, and upload.

What carries over from the TIFF

The first page is rendered at its original pixel dimensions, with transparent areas placed on white, then saved as an 8-bit JPG at high quality. Each file can be up to 100 MB. TIFF tags, metadata, extra pages, layers, and high bit depth are not preserved. To keep transparency, use Convert to PNG instead.

From an archive file to something you can actually send

TIFF is built for archiving and printing, not for sharing: a single scanned page routinely takes tens of megabytes because it is stored with little or no compression. That is why it bounces off email limits and upload forms. The JPG that comes out is small enough to send while staying readable on screen — keep the TIFF as the archival master and send the JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Will every page in a multipage TIFF be converted?

No. This tool creates one JPG from the first page of each TIFF file. Later pages are not included.

Is TIF different from TIFF?

No. .tif and .tiff are two extensions for the same image format, and this converter accepts both.

Which TIFF files can this converter handle?

It supports many grayscale, RGB, and palette TIFF files, including uncompressed, LZW, PackBits, CCITT fax, Deflate, and JPEG compression. Uncommon encodings or color modes may fail.

Will the JPG keep the original quality and metadata?

JPG uses lossy compression. This tool saves at high quality and keeps the original pixel dimensions, but converts the image to 8-bit color on a white background and does not copy TIFF tags or metadata.

How much smaller will the JPG be?

Usually several times smaller. A scanned page of tens of megabytes typically lands in the low single-digit megabytes, which clears most email and upload limits. The exact result depends on the scan resolution and how much detail is on the page.

Can it handle CMYK scans from a print workflow?

Sometimes. The browser decoder targets grayscale, RGB and palette TIFF files. CMYK, Lab and other print colour modes may fail or shift colour, because JPG output is always RGB. If colour accuracy matters for print, convert in your prepress software instead.

Are my TIFF files uploaded to a server?

No. The selected TIFF files are decoded and converted in your browser, and the resulting JPG files and ZIP archive are created on your device. Free tools do not upload your files. AI features that require server processing upload them to our servers.
