Why convert GIF to JPG?
A still frame you can use anywhere
Profile pictures, email attachments, printed documents and upload forms usually want a static image. The first frame of the GIF becomes a normal JPG.
Up to 100 GIFs at once
Add up to 100 GIF files, convert them automatically, and download the JPGs one by one or as a single ZIP.
Files stay on your device
Decoding and JPG encoding run in your browser session — no GIF is uploaded to ImageNow.
How it works
- Select or drop up to 100 GIF files, each up to 100 MB.
- Your images convert automatically. View the finished JPG and its file size.
- Download each JPG, or save the whole batch as one ZIP.
One static JPG from each animated GIF
JPG does not support animation. ImageNow saves the first frame decoded by your browser as one still image; it does not extract every frame from the GIF. This makes it suitable for a thumbnail, cover image, or static preview, but not for preserving motion. To convert GIF together with other image formats, use Convert to JPG, which accepts PNG, WebP, HEIC and more in one batch.
The first frame with a solid background
GIF supports indexed color and transparency, while JPG does not support transparent pixels. Transparent areas are filled with white, and the image is re-encoded at high JPEG quality. Original metadata is not carried over, and conversion cannot restore colors or detail missing from the GIF. To keep transparency, use Convert to PNG instead.
Useful when you need a still image
The JPG output works well for profile pictures, email attachments, documents, thumbnails, and forms that do not accept GIF. Processing stays in your browser, so your files are not uploaded. If the animation matters, keep the GIF or use a video format instead.
If you need to keep the motion
JPG holds a single frame, so the animation does not carry over. Keep the original GIF when the movement matters, or use a video format if the file is too heavy to share. If you need every frame as a separate picture, that is a frame extraction job rather than a format conversion — this page always produces exactly one image per GIF.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert GIF to JPG?
Add one or more GIF files, wait for automatic conversion, then download each finished JPG or download all results in a ZIP.
Does this tool extract every frame from a GIF?
No. It creates one JPG from the first GIF frame decoded by your browser. Extracting every frame is a different task that produces multiple images from one GIF.
Does JPG preserve GIF animation?
No. JPG is a still-image format and cannot store animation or frame timing.
What happens to transparent areas in the GIF?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are placed on a white background. To keep transparency, use Convert to PNG instead.
Why turn a GIF into a JPG at all?
Because a lot of places only take a still image: profile photos, printed material, document attachments and forms that reject animated uploads. A JPG of the first frame works in all of them and is usually much smaller than the GIF.
Can I convert several GIF files at once?
Yes. Add up to 100 GIF files, wait for automatic conversion, and download the results individually or together in a ZIP archive. Each file can be up to 100 MB.
Are my GIF files uploaded to a server?
No. The selected GIF files are decoded and converted in your browser, and the resulting JPG files and ZIP archive are created on your device. Free tools do not upload your files. AI features that require server processing upload them to our servers.
