Lossless ZIP compression for 8-bit TIFF files
ImageNow decodes each page and rewrites the TIFF with ZIP (Deflate) compression. This keeps pixel values intact in common 8-bit TIFF files and does not apply a JPEG-style quality setting. TIFF files above 8 bits per channel are processed at 8-bit precision, so keep the original if you need the full high-bit-depth data.
Keep every page in one TIFF file
The compressor reads the entire TIFF, not just the first page. Multi-page scans and image stacks keep the same page count and pixel dimensions in one TIFF file. Savings depend on the existing compression and image content; if the new file is not smaller, ImageNow returns the original instead.
What the compressed TIFF keeps
Pixel dimensions, color channels, and alpha transparency are retained when the TIFF is rewritten. Embedded metadata and profiles, including ICC color profiles, are removed. Because removing a profile can change how color-managed software displays the image, keep the original for archival, print, or publishing work.
